THE VISION OF OUR SHARED MINISTRY

The heart of our shared ministry is assisting people to discover the unique gifts embedded within them by our Creator – gifts that allow us to respond to God’s call to serve as partners in living out the dream of the Reign of God.

Each of us is like a gift package from God.  Our combination of gifts is so unique that not one of us has ever been replicated on this earth!  Our giftedness includes our talents and our abilities, our styles, our experiences and our preferences, our interests and our passions for serving in the world.  Our gifts are part of an abundant web of giftedness in our faith community.  Each of us brings a unique experience of God to this community, and in the process of sharing our work, our lives, our experiences of God, and our discernment of what God calls us to do, we begin to live in a community of God’s people.  The gifts that we have were given to us so that we might minister together as partners with God in the world.  And, our gifts are meant for us to enjoy.  When we live out our gifts with God, we discover the joys of an abundant life.

Our shared ministry strives to identify, develop, utilize and support the God-given gifts of each person.  Sharing the ministry is what it means to be “church.”  When we discover our gifts for ministry, when we begin with the use of these gifts rather than the tasks that someone else says we must do in the church, we discover that we do indeed have a shared ministry with God.  Our shared ministry affirms that all persons in our faith community (all ages, all members, lay and ordained) are called through our baptism to serve together in a spirit of mutuality.  As responsible people of God, we are called to participate in God’s ongoing creative and redemptive activity in the church, in the community and in the world.
